BREAKFAST FOR KIDS

Our Breakfast for Kids program started in 2012 and is now moving into its 10th year. The program is a joint project between the Coldwater/Eady United Church, the Coldwater Public School and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church where we prepare the breakfasts.

We have approximately 15 dedicated volunteers. Teams of 3 are assigned one of 5 mornings each week throughout the school year. Volunteers get up early to get to the church for preparation at 7:30 A.M. We are usually done between 8:30 and 9:00 A.M.

Each morning we prepare a fruit, a dairy product and trail mix or other carbohydrate. When we can go to the school, we can offer a variety of choice. At this time we are bagging one piece of each. During this last two years we have made anywhere from 50 to 150 bags. We are getting good at assembly line work.

The program costs between $800 to $1200 a month.  We had help during COVID from the Federal Emergency Community Support Fund, but traditionally community organizations and businesses support the program. Donors are given a charitable receipt from the Coldwater United Church.

There is always room for an extra volunteer.  For more information, please contact

Cate at beginnings4me@gmail.com or call at 705-984-7668.

FLOWERS & PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

Wesley United Church, Eady and its UCW provide flower and prayer shawl delivery. There is a small, dedicated group of ladies who meet at Eady United to make the shawls. They would love to have more members. The shawls are given to folks in the community and surrounding area who are in need of comfort and prayer due to illness, bereavement, baptisms and other life events.

Meetings are held at the Eady Church in the Wesley Room on the last Wednesday of each month from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM (except in July and August). Call 705-686-7787 to learn more.
