Sunglass Sunday - April 27th.

This was our first annual Sunglass Sunday and all present found it very enjoyable. This was the idea of a young girl, named Hollie, from Wesley United Church in Eady. Apparently there had been a worship service when the sun was very bright as it came flowing through the windows. Young Hollie then suggested that everyone should wear sunglasses. And so it was decided that this is exactly what we would do.
And, indeed, Coldwater and Eady had their inaugural Sunglass Service on Sunday, April 27. The Eady church added some interesting decorations to their Sanctuary and handed out sunglasses. The Coldwater church had over a dozen folks wear their favorite sunglasses.
At one point our minister, Reverend Sweet, turned his back to the congregation as he put on his sunglasses, purchased specifically for this occasion. As he turned back toward the congregation he displayed his new Spiderman sunglasses. Although one lady told him he looked more like Satan than Spiderman, the service continued without incident.
And now we are very much looking forward to next year and already waiting to see how creative we can be. I don't think we will be able to add Sunglass Sunday to The United Church of Canada official calendar, but who knows. Let us keep it in prayer.
