MINISTER'S MESSAGE OCTOBER 2026

We will soon be seeing the full fall colours in all of their glory. And this is what makes this my favourite time of year. Of course, however, this also means the trees will soon be going into hibernation for the winter.

This makes me wonder if people also go through similar cycles in life. We read in Ephesians 4:22-24 to put off the old self and put on the new. This doesn't happen all at once. This is a process we go through all our life.

Perhaps this change also helps the trees to prepare for new growth. What does this look like in people? Is there any new growth waiting to happen in us?

It seems to me that we are able to see what new understanding needs to happen in others but are somewhat slower in seeing these same areas in ourselves.

Also, I read that  as leaves decompose, they break down into organic matter that returns vital carbon, phosphorus, potassium, and trace minerals back to the soil. So, does this mean that what we are shedding in the form of habits and opinions can become fertile soil for new growth and deeper understanding of ourselves and others?

I have always liked the song title "Through All the Changing Scenes of Life". What if we, along with all of nature, can express these new colours and growth in terms of faith, hope, love and service?

I hope that we are able to sit back and enjoy the changing colours and the resulting new growth.

Autumn Blessings
